About Noriyasu Takezaki
Born in 1968 in Bizen City, Japan, Noriyasu Takezaki is a Japanese ceramic artist specializing in handcrafted sake ware, flower vessels, and tableware. After studying ceramics at Saga Art Junior College and completing his training in Okayama, he established his independent practice in 1998. Deeply rooted in the traditions of Bizen pottery, his work explores the natural beauty and diversity of clay through organic forms, expressive textures, and traditional firing techniques. His distinctive “Reki” series highlights the unique character of raw materials, while his functional ceramics combine sculptural expression with lightness and everyday usability. His work has been exhibited throughout Japan, including at the Setouchi Triennale, and has received several distinctions, notably the Okayama Governor’s Award.
