About Taiga Mori
Born in 1974 in Bizen City, Japan, Taiga Mori is a Japanese ceramic artist descended from the Terami family, one of the six traditional kiln families of Bizen. In 2000, he succeeded his grandfather’s Furai Kiln and studied ceramic sculpture under Kimura Gyokushu, developing a distinctive artistic approach that combines centuries-old pottery traditions with contemporary sculptural expression. Specializing in tea bowls, flower vessels, and sculptural objects, his work is characterized by rough, organic forms, expressive textures, and the natural transformation of clay through fire. His creations have been exhibited internationally, including in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, with appearances at Milan Salone, VOLTA Basel, and POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair. Through his practice, Mori explores the relationship between earth, fire, and form, creating unique ceramic pieces that celebrate the raw beauty and timeless heritage of Japanese craftsmanship.
