About Takashi Baba
Born in 1983, Takashi Baba is a Japanese ceramic artist and the eldest son of renowned Bizen potter Shosuke Baba. A graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts, he combines traditional Japanese pottery techniques with a contemporary sculptural approach. Specializing in flower vessels, his work explores the transformative power of fire, creating unique forms, rich textures, and unexpected colors through the firing process. His ceramics have been exhibited internationally, including in London, Milan, Berlin, Beijing, and Taiwan, and have received several prestigious awards in Japan. Deeply rooted in the heritage of Bizen pottery, Baba’s creations reflect a dialogue between tradition, experimentation, and the natural beauty of clay.
